ART DECO Sterling Vanity Set by Webster Co Hello, and welcome to my auction. I have for you a lovely Sterling Vanity Set from the Art Deco Period. It has some really lovely Art Deco Styling elements to it; Graphic Design Cartouche, Columns at the side, Stylized floral bouquet at the handle junction, Hand Hammered finish on the main body. T is a monogram in the cartouche...it is either the letter I or L in Old English Lettering. CONDITION: T are some condition problems with both pieces. The brush has a couple of small dings on the back and one of the sides. T is a rattle when you move it. The resin that fills these pieces often becomes brittle with age and pieces can become dislodged, thus the rattle. The Mirror has a shallow dent near the base. The mirror is hazy and the silver coating is flaking a bit on the bottom. The frame that holds the mirror in the brush is loose due to some warping and misshaping of the surrounding brush frame. It flexes w the handle meets the mirror body and this area should be stiff. These are beautiful pieces and would be great for display, but may be to fragile for use. I am lucky enough to live near a silversmith and he checked them out. They can be fixed, but it would cost more than they are worth. If you want to get them fixed I can put you in touch with him if you want. Just let me know.
