ART DECO VINTAGE MICRO MOSAIC 14K GOLD FILLED FILIGREE EARRINGS RED FLORAL These lovely earrings began their current life as a pair of very old screwback earrings. Because of the design style and intricacy and the fact that they were screwbacks, I think places their origin in the 30s or 40s. These are hallmarked on the back MADE IN ITALY and FAP. The screwback fittings have been removed and some additional delicate toolwork performed to convert them into pierced earrings. The conversion to pierced earrings is completed with a pair of 14K gold-filled shepherd's hook earwires.The actual settings for the micro mosaic design is yellow brass and may have been gold-plated at some point, although they now have that lovely old brass look. These are in great shape, with no missing pieces. I've cleaned them with a dry toothbrush, but no additional cleaning has been done. The micro mosaic features a red rose, a pink and red rose, a white and red daisy-like flower and a very tiny blue and white flower. There are tiny little green leaves intertwined in the floral design. The flowers are surrounded by a deep red background.I just love the how these miniature pictures are done with such tiny pieces of glass. I think they are absolutely amazing and I enjoy every time I get to work with a new piece.Very feminine and pretty. Perfect for that spring
