ANTIQUE HAND DECORATED BOX BY BEATRICE CAMERON

- GROSVENOR SQUARE LONDON -

CIRCA 1890 - 1910

Esquisite as you can see, this is a lovely hand decorated octagon box from the prestigious shop of Beatrice Cameron, Grosvenor Square, London. This would date from the Art Nouveau period 1890 - 1910.

I understand this was originally designed for used as a collar box, it has lovely green silk lining and may have also been used as a lady's jewelry box.

Importantly, this box retains its original key, albeit it is a bit fiddly to lock/unlock but I am sure this could be freed up if required.

Relatively good condition bearing in mind this is hand decorated. There is evidence of four old woodworm holes which have obvioulsy been treated a long time ago (certainly nothing there now). There is a small crew missing from the inside lock. Under the hand decoration there is also an un-opened crack to a small area, this could be just the wood or a very old repair - kindly see the photos.

An unusual size - it measures just under 4inches high, 5.75 x just over 4.5inches wide.

Please see all photos (apologies for the reflection).
