Beautiful, rare and monumental Art Nouveau bronze sculpture/lamp. This is the largest and most beautiful Art Nouveau patinated bronze figural table lamp we have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale. It is signed in the bronze Causse. Some of Causse's work, although very rare, are pictured in Bermans books on bronzes. Julien Causse was born in Bourges, France in the 19th century. He had an exposition at the salon of French artists and won a honorable mention in 1892 and in 1900. He also won a medal in 1893 and honorable mention at the universal exposition of 1900. From all our research checking 20 years of auction records and our extensive art library and reference books, we find that this is the largest and most important of Causse's creations. The figure is absolutely breathtaking from any view, and in our opinion is one of the most important large Art Nouveau figural table lamps ever created. The soft flowing lines of her clothing, the movement and flow of her hair exemplify the finest Art Nouveau creations of the era. It is signed in the bronze Causse and measures 78.5 centimeters tall or 31 inches. The width at the widest point from the tip of the branch to the tip of the shade is 15-1/2 inches. Surely this will be a very appreciated and cherished art object for its new owner.
