An exclusive Art Nouveau lavaliere necklace and matching earrings of fine 925 sterling silver, marcasite gems and emeralds with 14K detail present themselves in: Exquisitely hand tooled in every phase and dimension, the necklace features its centered festoon in intricate detail with beaded edged leaves arching upward and around the open worked areas. Within each leaf and arched sash, as well as surrounding the classic marquise cut emerald, elegant fine faceted marcasites reside. The entirety arches as if taking a deep breath before darting upward. Dangling from the center front's larger marcasite, the oval shaped drop completes the epoch design with its 10 scalloped edges of deep set marcasites surrounding the rare emerald gem. The emerald is set within a fine 14K chase-worked rim and the open back, an outstanding detail, allows the ultimate light refraction of the precious cut. Hallmarks of the silver "925" , the silversmith "AK" the Moravian (CZ) Eagle and other tallies can be noted at each intersecting detail of all sections of the necklace and earrings and its loops. Necklace measures 20" in full length . From edges of each side section of the lavaliere, the fine 925 silver chain extends 8" . The festoon itself measures 1.25" x 1.5". Spring clasp and take up loop are also hallmarked in 2 places denoting the silver content and the silversmith. Earrings were exclusively designed to accompany the necklace and are of the exact same materials and in relative proportion to the necklace. Measuring 1.5" in length, the width of the emerald setting is a tad over 3/8" and the two stepped levels create an impressive 1/4" in depth. The emerald section dangles from a column of 5 exquisitely set and beaded edged marcasites. Secured with a most unusual and Czech patented hinged loop, the hallmarked post fits neatly into the open notched receiving edge. T are three possible notches in which to adjust the fit of the earring to the lobe. One of the most remarkable sets of fine jewelry to be found in this country and an original set which is protected from duplication! If a photo were worth a thousands words, then I apologize for the "silent" majority of these. Marcasites are one of the most difficult gems to capture via photo. However, having always been known as the "poor ladies diamond" they were often priced higher than the old rote cut diamonds and these of superior cut and impeccable silver bead edges dare the diamond to outshine them! Their sparkle ~ ~ even in a dim lit area ~ ~ is absolutely breathtaking! (and close to the sparkle in your eye) From Prague with love!
