Incredibly representative of Art Nouveau sculpture of the 1890s-1910s, the hallmarks of Art Nouveau style can easily be recognized in this gorgeous, fluid lamp: asymmetry, a nude, fantastical woman with flowing hair who is accompanied by an exotic creature, both placed in a natural setting. The dramatic depth of this piece is stunning, as is its fantastic sense of movement and life. The detailing of the woman's face, body and the fabric draped across her is extraordinary, as is the exquisite attention to detail given to the feathers of the peacock, which are hand painted with colorful accents that produce a wonderful, luminescent appearance. A beautiful red jewel accents this lady's headband, and tiny teardrop shaped jewels accent the tips of the peacock's feathers. This lamp has been cold cast from a special material that creates the look of cast metal. The peacock feather shade, accented with tiny teardrop shaped jewels, is made of resin, which provides a beautiful glow when light passes through. Quality reproductions this representative of the Art Nouveau period are extremely difficult to find. The Details : Generously sized, this light fixture measures approx. 14.5" high x 16" wide x 8" deep (37cm H x 41cm W x 20cm D). The resin shade measures 8" in diameter (20cm dia.).
