ABOUT THE TILE ITSELF Original vintage tile, in Art nouveau Style, pictures a Swan in a pool this is characeristic of the style.. Reflections in watter gives movement to the scene... movment and naturalistic fluences are constant in Art Nouveau style.We found this tile catalogued in Planche Nº8 of Hte Boulenger & Cie. Design numbered Nº8 under title "frises et motifs divers en Emaux Multicolores Cloisonnes" This tile measures 20 x 20 cm (aprox 8 inches) and used to came in several measures ( 6 and 10 inches) Ref.. Art Nouveau Tiles H Van Lemmen & Bart Verbrugge pag 52.Regarding designer could be Arnoux - Guidetti or Lovatelli - Colombo ABOUT THE FACTORY The Choisy-le-Roi faience factory of Choisy-le-Roi, Île-de-France, France produced barbotine (majolica) from 1858 until 1910. Hippolyte Boulenger was the art director at the pottery. The factory's work was some of the most delicate produced in France. And was renamed after the experiment and research of Red vibrant and orange colors.The majolica of Choisy-le-Roi, Sarreguemines, Gilardoni among others, contributed to the big successes that had the majolicas production in Europe during the XIXth century.
