Description Art Nouveau Universal Exposition 1889 Paris medal by Louis Alexandre Bottée Ref :mixed 1582 This is not a re-strike it is a original period medal. Engraver Louis Alexandre Bottée: (born in Paris, 1852-1941) was apprenticed in a button factory to which was attached a studio for medal-engraving. He attended the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1871. There he was pupil to Ponscarme, Dumont and Millet. In 1878 Bottée obtained the Great Prize of Rome. At the Salon des Artistes Francais he won a third-class medal in 1882, a second-class medal in 1887 and a first-class medal in 1894. Bottée received a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900 and was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1903.
