Exquisite Egyptian glazed steatite scarab, with fantastic detail , the base finely inscribed in hieroglyphs with the throne name of Thutmose III, (Men-Kheper-Re: 'The appearance of Re endures', i.e. in the form of the king), retains traces of its original green glaze, pierced for suspension, 18th Dynasty, c. 1479-1425 B.C.Scarab:The scarab was the symbol of spontaneous generation, new life and, by extension, resurrection.
