Here is a great item from a recent estate. This is an original signed watercolor by British artist Arthur Herbert Buckland R.B.A. (1870-1927). The painting is called "Truant Caught Fishing" and was used as an illustration in the book "Anne's Terrible Good Nature" by E. V. Lucas in 1908. A charming depiction of a young man sitting among the wildflowers with his fishing line in the water. He is looking over his shoulder at the smiling girl in the backround. The piece is done in a muted palette of blacks and greys to white with some subtle accents of a warm beige. Painted on artist's board measuring 15" by 9.75". It is signed in the lower left corner. The reverse of the board has the pencil notations "No 6" (probably illustration #6 in the book) and "page 126". Also a number "15617" and a notation that looks like "5 1/4 x 3 1/4". Piece is framed behind glass. Overall measurement is 19" by 25.5".
