Arthur Pequegnat Mantle/Shelf Clock -Berlin Canada Offering an early Midget mantle/shelf Arthur Pequegnat clock that is 17" tall and 8�" wide with original numbers and mission style hands. Original label is on the reverse marked "MIDGET Eight Day Mission Clock MADE BY THE ARTHUR PEQUEGNAT CLOCK CO. BERLIN CANADA DIRECTION: If this clock should go too fast lower the pendulum ball: if too slow, raise it" Works are marked PEQUEGNAT CLOCK CO. BERLIN, ONT. Paper label does have pencil marks. Found in an attic - clock runs and the works look great - but is missing the spring or wire that connects to the pendulum, so does run fast. The pendulum has a garden design with a fence similar to the front of the clock. T is no key with the clock. Arthur Pequegnat moved to Canada from Switzerland with his family in 1880 settling in the Berlin, Ontario area (the name Berlin was changed to Kitchener in 1916 because of the war with Germany). He was a master watchmaker having learned the trade in Switzerland from the age of ten and set up a business repairing watches and clocks. He soon turned his attention to bicycles and established The Berlin & Racycle Manfacturing Company. Around 1904 he again turned his focus to clocks and watches, and formed the Arthur Pequegnat Clock Company, making his own movements with cases being manufactured by another read more
