This auction is for a very nice turn-of-the-century Martial Redon Limoges artist signed oil on porcelain. This fine piece was an estate purchase in Maryland.During the late 19th century,the import of European porcelain was quite brisk to say the least;especially France and Germany.A portion of the porcelain were shipped undecorated;....blanks "if you will",(plates,plaques,ect.).People would purchase these and have a local artisans decorate them or perhaps even decorate these blanks themselves.This artist,whose initials are A.R.R has created a inspirational depiction of a beautiful young lady standing in a field of grass,while picking a lilac flower of sorts,(see pictures).It is a very soft portrait with great use of colors and keen attention to detail.T is a warm,subdue feel to this portrait. This fine plaque measures 5 5/8" x 7 1/2" in an "oval" form.....unframed.The frame with the plaque is probably not period,and is most likely a later addition.The portrait is initialed by the artist A.R.R.1908 on the reverse,(see pictures),and it signed on the reverse with the Martial Redon product symbol in green inkstamp,dating this plaque between 1891 and 1896 ,and an insized 190,(see pics).The condition of this plaque is outstanding,with NO excuses what so ever!The frame is alittle rough,but quite serviceable.This is a very nice quality portrait and will make a fine addition to your Limoges handpainted porcelain plaque/collection/fine decor.Please see my other auctions for nice antiques and collectibles.This is a NO reserve auction,so please bid away!Buyer is to pay in money order/cashier's check form within 10 days of close of this auction.We will gladly combine shipping for you on multi purchases!!!
