Arts Crafts Dominique & Haff Pointed Antique Silverware 1895 (60) From an estate, early Arts & Crafts Dominique & Haff Pointed Antique sterling silverware c. 1895. The set includes: 11 teaspoons, 9 dinner forks, 7 soup spoons, 7 dinner knives, 13 salad or desert forks, 7 butter knives, 4 cocktail or pickle forks, 2 iced tea spoons. The pieces are monogrammed NSG - to the best of my interpretation. Dominique and Haff was absorbed into Reed and Barton. The pieces are all in excellent shape, all feature the Dominique and Haff sterling logo. The pattern has beautiful, simple, lovely lines - quite a contrast to the Victorian era that proceeded Arts and Crafts. The pieces are solid and have that wonderful heavy silver feeling. The dinner knives blades have very tiny signs of use on flat part. Measurements: dinner knife - 9 3/4" (blade is 5 1/8" marked STEEL SILVERPLATE); butter knives - 5 5/16" - they are marked with only the STERLING and D&H logo; teaspoons - 6 1/4"; soup spoons - 6 1/4"; iced tea spoon - 7 5/8"; dinner fork - 7 5/16"; salad fork - 6 1/2"; pickle fork - 5 5/16". Please note t are 9 dinner forks, the photo shows only 8. Weight: the forks together weigh 2 pounds, 5.2 ounces. The spoons together weigh another 1 pound 9.2 ounces. The butter knives weigh 9 ounces. The dinner knives weigh 1.2 pounds. I consulted an ounce to gram converter - 1 ounce = 30 grams. So one has 5 pounds 3.4 ounces without the dinner knives. The silverware has been stored in green sterling cloths which are yours also. It could use a good polishing. This set would be a great start for a good-sized service. Allow approx $20 for shipping ( 6 1/2 pounds) depends on zip . Ins. approx. $6 additional and must be insured. If anyone knows what the additional initial M stands for - some of the pieces have the logo marks, STERLING then a very clear "M." It may have been the artisan.
