Beautiful solid copper Arts & Crafts platter/tray. Very similar to the Plate 580 tray shown on page 163 of the Antique Brass & Copper Identification & Value guide by Mary Frank Gaston (1996 Issue). 15 3/8"x 1 overall, hand hammered construction. It is marked SCHAEFER Hand SC. The mark is worn as you can see in the picture. T are two areas with slight bumps which can also be seen in the picture. These could easily be hammered out. For those who are unfamiliar with the Arts & Crafts era, it was a "movement during the late nineteenth century, emphasizing original designs and hand-crafted construction. The trend was initiated in response to the growth of machine-made, mass produced styles predominant during the middle Victorian years. " (Collecting Copper, Mary Frank Gaston, pg. 21) Postage $13.50 for the lower 48. Actual postage for overseas. Ins. is optional. The tray is 10" wide.
