Celebrating Over 11 Years on Ebay!! Stavre Gregor Panis Pin Description: This is a very beautiful and finely made hand wrought sterling pin by Stavre Gregor Panis. This piece carries a marvelous nautical motif featuring many seagulls in flight and the border is cleverly made to look like a rope. The pin has exquisite workmanship -- note the back w you can see the hand hammer marks. This is a very nice piece of jewelry & sure to be an heirloom. Size : 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" Hallmarks : Sterling SGP (in a triangle) Condition : Excellent History : The Panis Gallery was established on Cape Cod in Falmouth, Massachusetts in 1932 by Stavre Gregor Panis and his wife, Gladys. Panis was born in eastern Europe and moved to this country in 1905. Panis attended the Massachusetts School of Art and was a trained metalsmith, focusing on jewelry and enameling. Panis's jewelry is usually made of sterling silver (though he also worked in copper for non-jewelry items) and often features intricate saw piercing and chasing. Panis belonged to the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts. The work done by Panis often featured a naturalistic, nautical or oceanic motif. This jewelry is very sought after by collectors and is becoming increasingly hard to find. Note that I combine shipping on purchases of multiple items.
