Authentic 1800s Chinese jewlery box. Features brass hardware and handles on each side. The four brass drawer pulls are in the shape of fish. Insides of drawers are lacquered red... T are carvings in front and top of box. I bought this about 7 years ago from an Asian antique shop specializing in asian art and antiques shop called "Silk Road Antiques". I bought it as a gift to my daughter but her style was modern intead of antique. So she kept it in the box until now. The original owners of the shop, Frances and Barbara were experts in Asian antiques. A real nice store. They had an asian rock garden in their backyard at the back of the store with fish too I think. T are now other owners of the shop now who continue to carry on in their place. The back of the business card that I asked her to write on says: " Lacquered mirror box with bats and chrysanthenum motif Shanxi China in 1860. (mirror is new) symbols of longevity and faith." . The box has a mirror that folds under the top of the box. It would be good to use with cosmetics. The starting price for this auction is much less than what I paid for the item. I bought a few other things from t that I may auction on E bay in the coming days so do save us in your favorites! Please feel free to ask questions. Pay Pay Payments only please.
