"Giant Tree" 1975 Signed by the famous Japanese artist Joichi Hoshi Born in Niigata prefecture and educated in Taiwan, Joichi Hoshi returned to Japan after World War II where he studied oil painting. He has been exhibited at the Sao Paulo and Tokyo Print Biennials. Strongly attracted to elements of nature, the artist's earlier prints depict stars and constellations, but by the 1970's, he focused on the subject of trees -- the image for which he is best known. Professionally matted and framed by the well known Kato Galleries in Tokyo, Japan One of Joichi Hoshi's most desired prints in perfect condition. Original woodblock on paper signed and inscribed in pencil, with red stamp.
