For auction is this Atlas "Classics" EMD GP7. � This is Atlas catalog number 8438 decorated for the Wabash Railway carrying road number 450. � The Wabash was an interesting railroad and everyone heard the song Wabash Cannonball, authored in 1904...there was one tiny problem...the real railroad didn't have a train named the Cannonball. � 1949 changed all that when a passenger train between Detroit and St. Louis on the Wabash became the "Cannonball". � In the 1960s freight cars appeared with a "Cannonball Freight Service" logo and a covered hopper sat in Circleville OH long into the 1990s with the blue track and cannonball freight service in the same color. � There were two things I found really fascinating about the Wabash...it's drop-step FM Trainmaster locomotives and it's NJI&I subsidiary, even the N&W had some NJI&I cars on the roster into the 1990s. � Back at the ranch, the locomotive you are bidding on is likely new, test run only. � Unfortunately the previous owner has passed and I can't ask him so you will likely be placing this motive power into revenue service for the first time (it's sister 451 is in another Ebay listing). � There is nothing broken on this locomotive, which includes knuckle couplers already mounted. � Finally, the locomotive is in its original box and will be shipped to arrive in the same manner you see read more
