Tackabury, 1875. pp. 251.In Good ++ to VG, mostly clean condition, maps are attractive, title page torn with loss of upper right corner as seen in the photo, binding rubbed and worn, maps overall clean and well preserved with nice full block hand color, some light dampstaining along the bottom edge of some of the maps which is almost always below the bottom neat line and would in almost all cases disappear with matting. Orig boards with gilt title lettering on cover, original spine leather now chipped and a bit dried, marbled endpapers. Atlas measures 14 1/2" x 18." Folio.51 maps (of 52) including 21 double-page, the rest full-page, all but one hand colored. Complete except for the map of Europe which should follow the US map. With sections on geology, zoology, history, education, extensive sections on railways, steam navigation, including comprehensive lists of steamers in use, minerals, climate, each written by expert in their field. Also a complete list of post office and railway stations, cities and populations, and business cards by city and town. The maps are all quite detailed and include a double page map of railways, a nice double page geological map of Canada, other double-page maps of Canada, USA, climate, maps of each province (British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island), Newfoundland, very nice detailed city maps of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston, Quebec, London, county maps, etc. A profusion of large 19th century lithographed maps with hand color.T3034 ____________________________________________ We happily accept credit cards and PayPal.
