The ATMOS "perpetual" clock was invented and marketed by the famous Swiss clockmaking firm named LE COULTRE. It is perhaps the most innovative and original horological creation ever produced. Although there is actually no such thing as a perpetual motion device (everything finally wears out!),the highlight of this clock's ingenuity is that it never requires winding by the owner. The reason is that it has a bellows in the mechanism that reacts to small daily atmospheric changes and in doing so regularly and automatically rewinds the clock. New models of these beautiful clocks sell for over $3,000 in jewelery stores today. Older ones selling as antiques are priced for considerably less even though they operate perfectly when properly serviced by a professional clock shop before the sale. This attractive Atmos bears the serial number 103502 marking it as having been manufactured in 1957. The gilded brass is in good condition with only the expected amount of tarnish. All five glasses are perfect and the mechanism runs well, keeping good time. As an added bonus, we will include an original ATMOS packing and shipping container with the clock (see photograph). We have priced this lovely timepiece well below usual market levels for the benefit of its next owner. Although we do not offer a guarantee on Atmos clocks,we have displayed this beauty in our own home for several months to make certain that it runs well, without stopping, and that it keeps good time.
