this is a working 1962 era Civil Defense Geiger Counter and probably dates its origins from the 1950s ... it will detect and measure gamma ray radiation dose rates as high as 500 roentgens per hour...t is a stamp on it saying that it was last serviced or inspected in 1983...it is a " CDV-720 " and I'm sure it is in working condition ( although I do not know how to test it ) ..., by that I mean that it was only ever taken out and tested by the Fallout Shelter's designated equipment certifiers and after the testing was completed the batteries were removed and so it is completely clean and new on the inside with no corrosion... The outside is a little dusty and t is some fading of the enamel but it is in " factory new " condition other than the dustyness in my photograph... This was used in a civil defense shelter / monitor station ... In the event of a nuclear attack it was to be used to monitor radiological readings...I am including ( 1 ) CD V-750 Dosimeter / Charger which is used to read the results in low light ... this unit operates on D cell batteries and the original carrying strap as well as dosimeter is included...I charge ACTUAL PRIORITY POSTAGE for shipping, ( the postage calculator on the auction page is an estimate but in most cases it will be the correct amount and will include the $2.50 handling charge ) A PERSONAL CHECK
