This auction is for a rare antique metal milk carrier box, marked: POLARPAK - UNIVERSAL CONTAINER CO. - TOLEDO, OHIO - PAT. APPL.'D FOR - I believe this to be from the 1920 era or before and was probably used by the milkman for milk delivery with the purpose of keeping the milk cold, hence the name: POLARPAK. This metal box, used to carry 12 quarts, is heavily constructed and weighs approx. 8 1/2 lbs. It has a good working clasp that keeps it closed, good hinges and handle with a divider at the bottom to keep the bottles from rattling around and the lid also has indentations to hold the tops of the bottles secure, chipped ice may have been added in between the bottles also. Overall it is fully functional and in very good condition except the paint. It was possibly originally green but appears it was repainted black in its past history. There are spots of missing paint and some small spots of minor surface rust. It measures 11 1/2" by 8 1/2" by 10 1/2" tall.No rules, simply pay and I mail promptly. Satisfaction Guaranteed to be as describred. Feel free to ask any questions or review my feedback. Check out my other 50 auctions for more hard to find vintage and antique collectibles.
