Attractive Chinese ginger jar with dogs/dragons/lions? and water spouts Please Attractive Chinese ginger jar with dogs/dragons/lions? and water spouts This is an appealing little jar which has a very interesting pattern. Apologies for any poor interpretation of the design as I have very little knowledge of Chinese mythology. The body colour of the jar is a blue-green. All around the base are waves which I assume represent the sea. Rising on three separate water spouts are three fierce dogs (or are they dragons or lions?). One has scales and another has wings. Each is beautifully modelled. There are also groups of curly motifs. There was no lid with the jar. Stamped on the bottom under the glaze is a square maker's mark. The jar measures approx 17cm high and the maximum diameter is approx 16.5cm. Weight 800g. Very good condition with no chips or cracks.
