Atwood Half size Flat top Stage Coach Chest This is a super strong trunk used by banks and others to transport money and other fine valuables They were loaded with the heaviest hardware available and it features a Charles Leibrich lock. Americas finest solid brass lock maker. He later sold his empire to the Star Lock Co. Philidelphia. A piece of history right in you're home or business! Has original key. We sampled it with a glass top demonstration only' one can be ordered from a local glass company close to you. It's a very nice touch! It has been Professionally refinished by us. The old covering was removed and it was refinished in our shop. Made in Boston this was one Americas highest quality trunk makers. Sample trunks as they were called were made to order and designed to fit a purpose. They are often mis-quoted as salesmens sample trunks. Quality is in the making starting with the original lid stay, Solid Brass working lock and thick woods. This trunk has thick wood' not the normal 1/2 inch stock but 1" stock all the way around. This trunk has a beautiful rustic look only obtained through use over a long period. They are very difficult to refinish as they were made to last and are very difficult to strip. Notice all the Rivits in the lid! WoW built to last! All cast iron hardware was stripped and refinished with satin black enamel. We are selective in what we do, we refinish only the finest in Maker brands. The top is flat Both making it a functional table and elegant. Very beautiful trunk indeed. It has the original maker label in the lid. This trunk was both one the finest made and most revered amongst the coach companies. T are 3 strong hinges and she opens and closes like new. #5 Draw bolts 'on the lid front are very strong! Very nice slat clamps 'finger clamps' on the lid front! One solid trunk! The inside was Stripped and sealed with 2 coats of sealer. Atwood was serious when it came to putting thier name on something. Like the finest trunk makers did and fine trademark companies today do. We try to take very clear pics of our work so we hope you enjoy them! Trunks are unique and the chances of another exactly like the one you wanted may not be seen for a long time.
