You are bidding on one Auburn Tool Company 3/16" double reed wood molding or moulding planes as pictured. It is marked "AUBURN TOOL CO AUBURN NY" with their star logo on the front end, and "3/16" and "No 182" on the back end. It is triple boxed, but one piece of boxing (would have been the follower) appears to have been sanded down flat to the bottom of the plane.Other than that, condition is very good and really wanting a cleaning. T are two chamfered (???) holes on the left side. The right side was exceptionally dirty (must have been laying on the left side for years) and I started the cleaning so that I could photograph it. T are some small chips and and a total of three cracks in the boxing, mostly at the front end or just in front of the iron. With a cleaning, this will be a nice plane.SHIPPING MOLDING PLANES: Most molding planes will weigh 2 pounds when boxed, a few very thin ones will make 1 pound when boxed, and the larger ones will be 3 pounds or more when boxed. 2 pounds costs $9.50 within the US, but I can usually get at least 6 molding planes into a regular Priority Flat Rate box, which costs $11.35 within the US regardless of weight. So in that case the second plane ships almost for free, and the next few do ship for free. The only additional cost would be insurance.SHIPPING: 2 pounds when boxed. (see below if you are bidding outside the US)This is one of a number of auctions of molding or moulding planes that I have listed right now. The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. Please see my other current as well as upcoming auctions, as I am or will be listing many more collectible planes and tools. I typically list in batches of similar tools, and sitting right now in the queue are LOTS of metallic planes and some parts for them, LOTS of American and British molders, chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools, and a variety of other tools. And if you, like me, are tired of the disappointments as a shopper -- misleading descriptions and poor photographs, "fine" tools that turned out to be repainted when you got them, non original parts that weren't mentioned, and poor packaging, -- then I encourage you to follow my auctions. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and pictures only of the left side when the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. If I have added or replaced a part, I will tell you. If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. WASHINGTON STATE BIDDERS: I hate to do this, but if I ship to a Washington address, no matter w you actually live, I either have to charge Washington State sales tax, or receive a valid resale form.PRIORITY MAIL FLAT RATE BOXES FOR HEAVY ITEMS: The Post Office has two sizes of the regular Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes (11-7/8 x 3-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches and 11 x 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches), plus a larger and more expensive Flat Rate Box, for which the postage stays the same regardless of weight. I try to use these if at all possible. As of January 2009, they also have a small Flat Rate box, which is the same cost as a Flat Rate envelope but holds less.WINNING MULTIPLE AUCTIONS: I will always combine m...
