AUDIOPHILE EDITION: Kai Winding & JJ Johnson - THE GREAT KAI & J.J. - Impulse 39109 - VERY BEST! This is the re-mastered audiophile edition pressed on high-quality vinyl of two of the very finest jazz trombonists on the planet: Kai Winding and J.J. Johnson. Note, too, that the rest of the personnel is not to be scoffed at, with Bill Evans, Roy Haynes, and Art Taylor on-board. Fabulous selections include THIS COULD BE THE START OF SOMETHING, GEORGIA ON MY MIND, BLUE MONK, THEME FROM PICNIC, GOING GOING GONG, and JUST FOR A THRILL (great!), among others. A jazz coupling that is, hands down, a tour de force, in a copy like new in all ways; near mint and better in playback. A truly fine edition, with the original liner notes enclosed.
