An unusual Augarten piece depicting horse in Levade position, but without a rider. The piece measures approximately 8.75 inches high and is in perfect condition - no chips, scratches, cracks, repairs, or missing pieces. The horse is adorned with gold bells and the stirrups are not hanging down; they are tucked up on the saddle. The oval base has gold painted rims, and has 2 inscriptions. One side reads "Hofburg Wien" and the other reads "Levade - Spanische Reitschule". Hallmarked (base) by "Augarten Wien Austria" with Augarten blue shield/crown mark. T is the letter "C" and "Made in Austria" on the bottom of the base. Also a larger number, 1550, and a small handpainted "36" under the Augarten mark. My father-in-law traveled frequently to Europe and I believe he purchased this piece while in Vienna on one of his trips. This was the only piece in his collection that did not have a rider. As with the other Augarten pieces I have recently sold, this piece will be carefully packed and shipped with insurance.
