We recently bought a small group of earlier Georgia views - all were of Atlanta or Augusta taken by Gardner and Usher. Two of the Augusta views even have the photographer's studio pictured. We will list all of the views on EBAY. This is a great city street view. It shows a wide street of Augusta with a very large monument to the men of Augusta who fought on the side of the Confederacy during the Civil War. The descriptiong on reverse on the line provided by Usher says, " Confederate Monument Augusta Ga.". The photo has great sepia tones- Great contrast and color. Photograph was taken by John Usher Jr. of Augusta and was part of a series of Augusta views- we will be listing 7! The photographer's stamp is on reverse. Card is slightly soiled and stained. .Photo is clear. Other Businesses on Broad St. are legible as well. Notice the watchmaker's sign! A wonderful view.
