Auguste Moreau Period Art Nouveau Lamp What a wonderful find! This very old bronzed sculpture lamp is signed Aug. Moreau on the base with France underneath it. Additionally, there is a plaque that reads La Moisson and under it Par Aug. Moreau. This Moreau is of a young lady with a sickle, gathering the crops. This is an 1800s lamp, NOT a reproduction or recent cast. This bronze lamp has a gorgeous patina, an original tulip shaped-shade and wonderful leaf turnings. It has a toggle switch for power. The ladys back has separated from the lamp pole a bit; I did not want to restore it improperly, so Ill leave that to the buyer. The statue is in great condition with no missing pieces. There is a slight scratch on her arm. The photographs picked up white spots that are not on the statue. The glass shade is in perfect condition. I did not rewire this in period appropriate cloth wiring, since cloth wiring is not U.S. Approved and I cannot use it for insurance purposes. You may rewire it in the manner you wish. You also may want to remount her, as she is loose and the base, while lovely, is probably not what you want for this lady. This is a period lamp made from one of Moreaus sculptures. The lady measures 14 inches tall and the lamp itself is 22 inches tall. The sculpture is mounted on a very old wooden base which is probably not original to the piece.
