This Carcharocles Chubutensis comes from the Pungo River formation of Aurora North Carolina. It's an early to middle Miocene tooth and is estimated to be 7 to 20 million years old.Another interesting fact is Pungo formation teeth are said to be 100 times rarer than Yorktown formation teeth,if you didn't already know most shark teeth you see for sale from the Aurora Lee Creek area are from the Yorktown formation which is Pliocene age. Chub's are older and much rarer than Meg teeth. This really is an outstanding high quality Chub with incredible colors! The razor sharp serrations and tip look to be 100% intact. The beautiful enamel is amazingly well preserved,it's very tight with no peel. The bourlette is nice but does have a little peel. The white/gray root is thick for a tooth this size and is well preserved,t is a slight bit of erosion to one root corner but it's very minimal. This is a very symmetrical lower jaw position Chub(both lateral measurments are identical)which makes it even rarer. Length: 2 11/16 inches Width: 1 13/16 inches NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION. I NO LONGER WILL SHIP TO SPAIN OR ITALY!
