The Southern Sky Pavo Color Printed Domed coin is the second release in the Southern Sky series dedicated to constellations visible in the Australian sky. The obverse side of the Pavo coin traditionally carries the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. It is surrounded by the legends denoting the Queen’s name and that of the issuing country, the face value of the Australian coin and the issuing year. The reverse design beautifully dsplays Pavo constellation first introduced by the Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius. Being the 44th constellation in size, Pavo, or the Peacock, is most visible in August between latitudes +30° and -90°. There are also navigational markers bordering the reverse, which point out where one would face when looking up at the sky to get the best view of the constellation. Much color has been added to truly capture the essence of the night sky and bring it to life. This 99.9% fine silver coin of Australia has been issued with the mintage quantity of 10 000 pieces and comes housed in an official Royal Australian Mint case. read more
