Australia Post released a beautiful set of butterfly sheets for the 2016 New York stamp show without much fanfare. The sheet is released one at time for the duration of the show. The sheets demonstrate the different security measures used in stamp printing.day 1 - 10 micron printingday 2 - holographic foilday 3 - laser cut patternday 4 - embossingday 5 - pearl foil on imperforate stampsday 6 - all embellishments on one sheetEach day a show sheet is released. These show sheets have a special foil overprint that are not rubber stamped but rather steel pressed. The released quantity is 250 sheets per day and each sheet is individually numbered. At the show each person is limited to 10 sheets per day and cash only. Day 1 show sheets were sold out before end of the show. Hence, no complete set were ever sold by Australia Post. The only way to get a full set of 8 show sheets is to be at the show for its full duration (8 days). Since there isn't much promotion of the sheets, sheets were not sold out by the end of show. The left over sheets were destroyed. Of the sheets that are sold, most of them were bought by visitors a sheet or 2 at a time for souvenir sake. Very few complete set of 8 sheets exists.
