The pin has an elegant openwork design covered with diamonds. There is an old mine cut diamond at the center surrounded by old rose cut diamonds. The center stone measures approximately 18 points in size. The other diamonds range in size from 2.5 to 3 points each at the smallest, and 7 to 8 points each on the larger stones. The total diamond weight is at least 1.5 carats, perhaps more. This piece was made around 1910 or 1920. The brooch has one Austrian hallmark stamped on the side. It is a dogs head mark for 14K gold. Some of the mark is worn, but you can make out most of it pretty well. The pin is also stamped 585 representing 14 karat gold, and there is another mark it appears to be two letters, obviously a maker's mark. Although this particular hallmark is too worn so we cannot figure out the letters. We have tested the brooch with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold. The condition is excellent. The diamonds are well set. The pin has a good quality clasp that is very secure. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The pin measures 1/2 inch by 2 inches. The weight is 4 grams. Good luck and read more
