Authentic 1973 Wurstfest MugOpa's Haus, bodies by Gerz of Germany .5 liter 500 total made on gray-colored and cream-colored earthenware bodies. Artist: Nelson Blalock In GREAT condition, has been well taken care of! From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "If you read the text relating to the 1972 mug, then you know that the now-famous series of dated Wurstfest mugs began in 1973. The 1973 Wurstfest Mug sold out relatively soon, and it displayed a tendency that would last for the next 15 years: cream mugs would outsell gray mugs almost two to one, and half-liter mugs would outsell one-liter mugs by almost the same margin. The 1973 design was the first where we commissioned an artist. Nelson Blalock at the time was supermarket employee who, as a sideline, did some interesting political cartoons for the local newspaper. The 1973 design was the first of four by Blalock. A full set of his his four designs (1973, 1974, 1975, 1977) is extremeley difficult to assemble due to scarcity of supply today. Issue price of the 1973 mug was $4.95 for the .5-liter size and (I think) $6.50 for the 1-liter size." --Ken Armke *****PLEASE NOTE I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN FROM MAY 15th-MAY 20th 2011**** ***I WILL SHIP ALL ITEMS THE MORNING OF SATURDAY MAY 21st, 2011***
