THESE EXCEPTIONS ITEMS ARE HARD TO COME BY THUS MAKING IT A DISTINCTIVE MASTERPIECE IN WHICH YOU DONT WANT TO MISS OUT ON!!! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BIDDINGS. Provenance: Although I do not have documentation to this effect but am sure of certain facts. I received these as a gift in 1990 from an old Africa hand who had been a close associate of Bob Denard, well known figure in African politics. I was told that the shield and spear had been âeoepicked upâe by one of Denardâe(tm)s men in the 1960âe(tm)s in Katangan Congo from the house of a white industrialist from Kenya . I am convinced that it is 100% Massai made for every day use and not a âeoetourist trinketâe. I believe it is an antique between 75 and 100 years old. Approximate Age: 75-100 years old Origin: Maasai people, Kenya and Tanzania Description: Shield -25" TALL X 20" WIDE The shield hide is either rhinoceros, elephant or cattle, any of these are available to Maasai.
