Antique Majolica Pottery Lovebirds and Floral Tea Set The reputation of Majolica for being easily damaged is hard to uphold by this set. This is a gorgeous, three piece tea set that is also pictured in Warman's Majolica Identification and Price Guide , only ours is in better shape than the set in the book... Along with pitchers and mugs, the majolica tea sets are the most prone to damage. THIS SET IS IN FABULOUS CONDITION!!! THIS SET IS NOT A REPRODUCTION . It has been dated back to the 1800's and is believed to be by Minton. We have carefully checked the handles, the rims, and the spouts for repairs and can find none. The previous owner was VERY particular in the care of her collections, and this fine example proves it. T is some minor crazing in the glaze of some of the pieces, but this set is remarkable and striking in its great condition. Pictures do not do justice. The tea pot to this set measures 9 1/2" long and is 5" high. The spout feels somewhat smooth at the tip and t are no chips that have been found anyw on this piece. The creamer is 5 3/8" long and 2 5/8" high, and the sugar bowl is 5 1/4" long, as well as 5 1/4" high to the top of the handle. This is NOT intended for use. It dates back to the 1800's and, like most majolica, was made with lead and tin based glazes. This tea set was part of a very large, extensive collection of majolica. Much of that collection is now living in a museum, other items have been parted out for sale. This is an amazingly gorgeous set of Majolica that would be a fantastic way to start off a new collector or an absolute necessity to add to an existing collection! Because of the rarity of this set, we will open our bidding to countries outside of the Continental United States. Please email if you are placing an international bid.
