US CAVALRY SWORD / SABRE & SCABBARD This curved sword is dated 1913 and bears the "Epluribus Unum" insignia with an eagle on the blade. Near the hilt, the maker's mark is engraved "The McLilley & Co, Columbus, Ohio" Lots of raised detail on both sides and top of blade. T is one small section on one side that has been badly scratched, otherwise a very nice shine. T appears to be the initials "GCMA" engraved in old English capitals. Blade is straight with nice tip, no rust, pommel is in excellent condition and very secure. Handle is made of rosewood with carved grip. Sword measures 38" including scabbard. The scabbard is also in very nice condition, showing only minor rust, belt links still intact. No dents. Excellent example of American military history. Any additional information on this sword is always welcome. This was purchased from the estate of a military enthusiast and avid hat and helmet collector.
