Authentic Civil War Non-Regulation Clauberg-Solingen Cavalry Officer's Sword "Clauberg-Solingen" marked U.S. Pattern of 1840 Cavalry Saber. 40" overall. Curved 35-½ inch blade with flat top edge. Obverse side is acid etched with a panoply of arms, and an eagle with a ribbon that reads E. PLURBUS UNUM. The reverse has the Clauberg standing knight on the ricasso and the blade is etched with a panoply of arms and a script US. The blade back is marked IRON PROOF. Half-basket hilt with pierced guard and bold "U.S." incorporated into guard. This saber was manufactured by the most highly respected manufacturer in Solingen, Prussia, and imported to the U.S. for use in the Civil War.
