CIVIL WAR SWORD BAYONET You are bidding on ONE (1) Civil War Sword Bayonet with no scabbord which was most likely made in Europe and is marked with a SP on the top of the handle. The blade measures 21 and 3/4 inches in length which has surface staining, and what appears to me to be oxidization and some rust. The locking button works. The brass handle is spotted and tarnished and has a muzzle ring with an inside bore diameter of 7/8 of an inch. This has been in my family for many years. The blade and handle has not been polished since I received it over 38 years ago and appears to be in the same condition with a bit more rust and oxidization. I am not an expert on Civil War artifacts. I was given this as a gift from my father when I was 12 years old. I have no way of knowing how long he had it before that. I remember it always being in the front hall closet growing up.
