Discovered this VINTAGE 5 Cent tin Coke sign at a recent country Estate Sale. Dating of sign is facilitated by the date Nov 16, 1916 on illustration of Coca-Cola bottle on left side of sign as well as research on the Net. Sign is made of light tin and measures approximately 12" x 35 1/2" and was produced by the Shank Works of Illinois. NOTE: this is an AUTHENTIC and VINTAGE sign - most certainly NOT a reproduction! Sign is in Good+ Condition. Still retains its bright colors and beautiful illustration of a coke bottle (see photo). No creases, bends or folds! No rips or tears! Faults? A few small, very few and very small, extra holes from when it was mounted on a store wall - certainly nothing serious. Alas, it looks like a previous store owner at some time must have covered up the 5 Cent price in bottom right corner of sign with a piece of tin announcing a higher price per bottle. I assume when moisture got behind it it caused the area of rust that is seen in the photo. This fault adds character to this HARD TO FIND piece of Coca-Cola advertising history but it does reduce my opening bid. In spite of its faults, this AUTHENTIC coke sign will still display very well and would make a fine background for any Coke bottle, tray and/or memorabilia collection. Would make a UNIQUE Christmas gift for the serious Coca Cola collector!
