This plummet was found in Smith County Tn. There are several theories on the purpose of plummets. Some believe they were fish net weights while others think they were used as plum bobs. My favorite theory is they were used as bolas. This piece has no machine marks and super smooth. Double grooved plummets are rare and hard to come by. Slate plummets don't pit like the hardstone plummets and this example is pit free and a rich brown. Thin dark bands dissect its center just above the widest end. It is 3 1/2" long and 1 1/8" at the widest part. This piece comes with a thirty day return policy no questions asked. If more time is needed to get it authenticated just email me and it will be granted. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
