Thought up by Leonor Coello and manufactured by the craftsman of Onil, Bernabe Molina, this doll was different to the rest of dolls that existed since then in Spain. Been dressed up to the nines, with biography, parents, brother, and all the things it were necessary, Mariquita Perez became the dream of all pupils. But, unfortunately, not everybody could be able to afford this dream. Its price was near one hundred pesetas when the average wage didn't reach 10 pesetas a day. Moreover, the vintage large cardboard doll (called 'Pepona'), only cost five pesetas. Mariquita Perez, "the doll that really get dressed", was a social revolution to everybody. In spite of it was available to few people, Mariquita Perez was known by everybody because of its songs, radio programmes, shop windows, … Famous people weren't immune to its charm and celebrities as Eva Perón, Grace Kelly, Gina Lollobrigida, Marisol or the Franco's granddaughters get captivated by this doll.
