Authentic Original Pith Helmet Hat Shanghai, Yangste River, Royal Navy 1920's Hi there, thanks for looking! Here we have an original pith helmet which belonged to a friends father who was a Surg.Lt. officer in the Royal Navy and who wore this whilst in service in China in the 1920's………he was involved in an incident on the Yangtze River, which may have been when this was worn! It says it is made by "pton & Sons, London" and that it was "Specially made for Hall & Holtz Ltd, Shanghai" and it is a classic white pith helmet in design. There is a leather band inside designed to allow airflow through the hat so the wearer didn't get too hot wearing it, and there is a leather chin strap, although this is broken on one side and needs fixing. Stored away for years and years it has clearly been well used, but still a lovely collectable piece! I reduce and combine postage on multiple purchases, so if you buy more than one item just "request an invoice" and I can alter the postage charge accordingly.
