Huge Chulucanas Peruvian Pottery Pair: Rotund and merry traditional egg-shaped figures created with techniques developed by the ancient pre-Columbian culture with the indigenous clay of the famed village of Chulucana in Peru Hand burnished mottled earth tones were applied by the artist during the firing process to achieve a natural, yet rich finish The man measures 20" tall and 12" across at his widest. The lady measures 19&1/2" tall and 13" across at her ruffle. As mentioned above, they were purchased from a reputable high-end gallery in the '90s, and the lady's arm was repaired once, with a barely visible seam. The scrape marks on top of her head have no depth at all that I can discern, and do not diminish the overall effect of the pieces, as the characters intentionally appear handmade by ancient technique, as they are, "of the earth." The artist signed the bottom of the lady, "MANUEL ADANDYUO CH, PERU" The original receipt from the "PAVO REAL" Art Gallery will be included. They will be carefully cushioned for shipping, and insurance will be included at no extra cost. Posted with eBay Mobile
