Thisauction is for an original WWI painted helmet. The helmet has the hand painted insignia of the 89th Division, 164th Field Artillery Brigade on each side of the helmet; the scarlet center on the 89th Division Insignia indicate the 164th Field Artillery Brigade. The 89th Division was known as the Middle West Division, with troops from Colorado, Missouri and Kansas. It was a hard fighting Division, serving in the Toul and Bois De Boushot sectors and in the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives resulting in 1,433 killed. The helmet is missing the chin strap and liner. The stamp inside the brim is as follows: Z H 8 L Please view photographs to determine actual condition. I guarantee this to be an original, WWI period pained helmet. I recently purchased several WWI era pieces from a large local collection. I will be listing more of these items over the next week.
