This well preserved cachet envelope, which is also a First Day of Issue. commemorates the 50th anniversary of Baseball's All-Star Game and of Hall of Famer Lefty Gomez being the first pitcher in the Baseball All-Star game. He also delivered the first All-Star RBI. Gomez died in 1989. The envelope is postmarked July 6, 1983, the anniversary date and also features the Babe Ruth 20 cent stamp.
