The Limited Edition Autographed Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team Jersey is being auctioned for the benefit of bikeMS, a 150-mile / two-day cycling tour in Colorado for the benefit of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. All proceeds from this auction go directly to this cause.
I have had multiple sclerosis (MS) for fourteen years, but am fortunate to still maintain an avid and active cycling life. In 2000, after a successful business career, I was forced to leave my profession and go on disability because of increasing MS symptoms that made it impossible to continue working. Since then, my wife has become the principal wage-earner for our family, all too typical of the effects of MS. Families that are impacted by MS usually have to make substantial financial and lifestyle adjustments, retirements postponed and dreams radically altered. T is no cure for this disease that slowly devastates the central nervous system, causing cognitive, vision, incontinence, chronic pain, intense fatigue, and paralysis. That is why we must continue to raise funds to find new ways of treating MS and ultimately finding its cause and ending its devastating effects once and for all. The Toyota-United Pro Cycling team consisted of 14 riders from sevendifferent countries and the riders were some of the finest in the world,with representation from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Cuba, Serbia and Mexico. The team included UCI B World Road Race Champion and 2008 Olympian Ivan Stevic, from Serbia. Also on the team were riders Dominique Rollin, the 2008 Amgen Tour of California stage 4 winner and overall sprint jersey winner from Quebec, Canada, Ivan Dominguez, Stage 1 winner 2008 Tour de Georgia and Jose Manuel (Chepe) Garcia, the 2008 National Time Trial champion from Mexico. Toyota-United won 160 races in its short two and a half year existence (2006 - 2008). The team competed in America’s largest stage races such as the Amgen Tour of California, Tour de Georgia and Tour of Missouri and won 9 stages (races) in these events, tby solidifying the team’s status as the most successful team in the world on American soil in these premier events. The competition included many of the teams that race in the Tour de France, the world’s biggest sporting event. Toyota-United has worked diligently to represent what is good and positive about the team sport of cycling through fair play and hard work. This Collectible Jersey is autographed by every member of the Team and will make a great addition to any sports memorabilia enthusiast, especially cyclists.
