Up for your bidding pleasure is this unparalleled crying lidded face jug by North Carolina potter AV Smith. This piece stands at a tall fourteen and a half inches in height (14 1/2"), signed on the bottom, and in flawless condition. The piece features A.V.'s highly sought after crying eyes, a brilliant tobacco spit style glaze, which is even more emphasized by the beautiful blue drips that we see on many of A.V.'s pieces, as it seems to be one of his calling cards, if you will in the Southern Pottery world. This piece is reminiscent of old South pottery with an amazing twist that could only be brought your way by a potter such as A.V. Smith. A.V. has taken it to a whole new level with his work, which has yet to disappoint even the most scrutinizing, and grumpy of individuals, his pieces always seem to be able to brighten ones day!
