Ruby Red 1876 Cape Cod Glassware by Avon - Pedestal Mugs & Hostess Bell Avon Cape Cod glassware is a beautiful ruby red glassware made with real gold to achieve the depth of color. The raised detailing is based on an old Sandwich Glass design from the mid-nineteenth century Victorian era. Use the bell to call in guests from ice-skating, and the mugs to serve hot spiced cider or mulled wine. 6 Pedestal Mugs. New in box. Only taken out for photos. 1 Hostess Bell. Not in box, but new, never used and in mint condition.I got a large set of Cape Cod brand new in the 70s from my Mom who's an Avon rep. When each new product was released and the first-run batch would arrive, I would help her pack orders so I could open all the boxes and pick out the ones that were the deepest red. I'd planned to use them as accent pieces with the Pfaltzgraff Heritage White set I'd bought with babysitting money, for when I moved out into my own apartment. I thought the 12-sided white-glazed dishes and the 6- or 12-border repeats of the ruby glassware created lovely foils for one another. After moving out on my own (thank you '82 recession), I was never able to entertain. Everything was stashed in a "hope chest" (Mom's term; no cedar chest - just stuffed into sturdy boxes) in Mom and Dad's basement, and it stayed packed until this year. We are downsizing since we have to make room, so I'm selling off the collection. Shipping is an estimate based on the eBay calculator.
