YOU ARE BIDDING ON A NEW IN THE BOX
This AVON NO. 400E BLUE COMET LOCOMOTIVE portrays one of the most famous of the Lionel Electric Trains. This is a replica of the 400E locomotive that Lionel offered to the public in 1931. The Blue Comet was a fast traveling Jersey Central Railroad express that ran from New York City to Atlantic City. It is of the standard gauge line of electric trains. It was introduced in 1931 and discontinued in 1939. The 400E was issued by Avon in 1991 and was the first in the series of Lionel replicas. Avon's 400E locomotive is made of Hartford porcelain, a mixture of porcelain powder and polyester resin. The locomotive is carefully crafted to be a vividly realistic portrayal of the original. The blue and white finish shows off its intricate design. This "Like New" locomotive still has the 1991 Avon sticker attached to the bottom. The engine comes in its original box. The box shows just like new. The engine is in superior condition. The wooden display base has never been unwarped. The brass name plate on the front of the display stand reads, "1931, # 400E, Blue Comet Locomotive by Lionel." The engine is 8" in length while the base is 10 1/2" long. The 400E is a dramatically distinctive display piece for the home or office. It will be prized by train hobbyists, by those who appreciate America's proud railroading heritage, and by those seeking a uniquely handsome collector's piece. Don't let this one leave you sitting at the station. Please check out our store as we are continually updating our inventory. FREE SHIPPING TO US AND CANADA BIDDER ONLY.
